Château Albert Morot > Wine Estate
Albert Morot wine estate in Beaune
Organically farmed across eight hectares and distinguished by 10 celebrated appellations, the Domaine Albert Morot embodies the true soul of Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy.
A historic wine estate
in Beaune
In the 19th century, Beaune established itself as the epicentre of Burgundy’s wine trade, driven by its strategic position at the crossroads of major European routes. It was in this dynamic context that Albert Morot was founded in 1820, quickly becoming a respected name in the region. In 1880, the estate took on a more defined identity when the château and cellars were built, anchoring the domaine in Beaune for generations to come. Over time, it gradually shifted away from wine trading to focus on the expression of its own vineyards.
A new chapter for Albert Morot
In 2023, the estate entered a new chapter with its acquisition by Guillaume Poitrinal and Sophie Desmazières-Poitrinal, driven by a clear ambition to unite heritage with modernity. Significant renovations were undertaken, both in the winery and the château, enhancing each stage of the winemaking process with greater precision and care. Supported by the expertise of winemaker Pierre-Jean Villa, the domain is evolving with renewed energy, while remaining true to its history and the identity shaped over generations.
The Beaune appellation
Created in 1936, the Beaune appellation spans over 400 hectares, including a significant number of Premier Cru vineyards. At the heart of Burgundy, it is renowned for the elegance and precision of its wines.
This diversity comes from a mosaic of soils, exposures and microclimates, shaping the identity of each climat. Pinot Noir dominates, producing refined reds, while Chardonnay accounts for a smaller share of balanced, elegant whites. Among the most emblematic climats are Bressandes, Grèves, Teurons, Marconnets, Toussaints and Aigrots, reflecting the richness of the appellation.
The Albert Morot
vineyard
The estate extends over approximately 8 hectares, cultivated with a precise, parcel-by-parcel approach that respects the identity of each terroir. A significant part of the vineyard is classified as Premier Cru, reflecting the quality and diversity of its plots.
An organic and sustainable vineyard
Certified organic since 2015, the estate is committed to a respectful approach to viticulture, focused on preserving the balance of the vines and their environment. Great care is given to working the soils and favouring natural treatments, allowing each parcel to express itself with authenticity.
From vine to wine at Albert Morot
At Albert Morot, everything begins in the vineyard, with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay planted at high density to encourage deep roots and a true expression of the terroir. The soils are carefully worked throughout the seasons, and the vines are cultivated organically, with a focus on preserving their natural balance.
Harvest decisions are guided by the vine itself, with grapes picked by hand at optimal ripeness. In the cellar, a gentle, low-intervention approach prevails: native yeasts, soft extractions and patient ageing in oak barrels allow each wine to develop with precision, purity and elegance.
